Fiorentina – Slavia Prague: Only one will reach the Group Stage

At Stadio Artemio Franchi, Florence, the host team, ACF Fiorentina, and SK Slavia Prague will play the first leg of UEFA Champions League 2008-2009 third qualifying round.

The Italian team, leads by Adrian Mutu, would like to improve last season performances when they arrive at UEFA Cup semifinals. The Viola team has won 50 of their 109 matches in European competitions, many of them during UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup 1960/61 consecration.

Slavia Prague reached this round when they beat FC Sheriff. The European history of this Czech club is very similar: they played 116 matches and if they won tomorrow they would reach 50 triumphs in the continent.
